So there is this Dad in BC that finds the book and movie of The Perks of Being a Wallflower too vulgar and detailed for students in grade 10. He also states that his own son asked to be exused from watching the movie with the class. Although I am sure the Dad was notifieed about the movie before they watched it, maybe he wasn't warned about the I don't know it doesnt say in the article. Honestly I think there is plenty of things like that in not only in high school but in life every where and people need to learn to accept that and stop complaining so much. There is only so much you can do about that kind of stuff. Honestly I believe the only way to change these type of situations, is to be a bit more enforcive about the books rating itself. It seems to me there is so many books out there and they may be about one thing but people never can truly know how far the book goes until they either look online in great detail or read the book itself. Almost everything in life is rated or put into a certain category of its contet, but books don't really seem to have that. Even though books seem to kind of be dying off, it might still be something to consider.

A father in BC in demanding that the school district bans "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" from students. He believes that the book contains too much explicit content for children. He lists child molestation, guides for masturbation, suicide by gunshot and many more. The father, Audet, describes the book as pornographic and vulgar. Audet's son has been given a alternate book to read in the class, and was excused from watching the film. I personally believe that it is wrong to ban a book from a district. In reality, the children of that school will be exposed to the situations referred to in the novel anyways, so why not let them read about it? If Dean Audet has a problem with his son reading the book, then his son should be excused from it the way he was, but he should not be trying to ban the novel from the entire district. It is an amazing coming of age novel that relates to many of the problems teenagers go through. If a book like "50 Shades Of Grey" never got banned from schools, why should "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" be banned?

I couldn’t agree more Allie, I think banning literature in the first place is wrong, but especially banning such a coming of age novel. If the dad wants his child to be excused from reading the book that’s his decision, but it shouldn’t effect the rest of the district or the kids in it.

I read the article about banning the book "The Perks Of Being Wallflower." A Kamloops Dad wants the book banned by the school district as he feels its subject matter is to vulgar. Audet's grade 10 son attends South Kam where he was given an alternate book to read. Audet believes the English class is using pornography as a teaching tool and says that if liberal parents want to expose their children to things like this its their choice. I disagree with him, I think children, especially teenagers are exposed to these sort of things on a daily basis, and if as a parent he doesn’t believe that he's too naive. If his son felt uncomfortable reading the book it should be him coming forward stating he feels its inappropriate, not his father.

I read the article about the Malaysia flight MH370. Many boats and planes have spotted debris in the southern Indian Ocean. The only problem is is that when they come back to look again the debris is never there. 122 pieces of debris have been spotted but not recovered. Australia and other countries have to hurry because there is a storm coming in that will block all views of the ocean from satellites and planes. This will also cause any debris on the ocean to scatter even farther apart. I believe that soon the search should stop because combined the countries have spent 10 billion dollars on the search that could be used for other things.

The Malaysian Airlines Flight had bad weather ahead as they took off from the airport. The pilot was hoping to beat this weather, but instead, the plane went missing. Using satellites, the safety authorities were searching every where for this missing plane. They were finding debris in many areas that could be the plane they're looking for, but nobody truly knows what happened.

I agree the pilot should have waited until the weather was acceptable to fly in then the plane maybe wouldn't have gone missing.

I read the article about the Washington state mudslide. After a huge mudslide, family members and friends are left heartbroken with the fact that a majority of victims will not be found. The official death toll sits at 16, but there are an additional 8 bodies not recovered yet. After 4 days of hard work from the authorities, no one alive has been found for an alarming amount of time, drawing the conclusion that many people didn't survive. The debris field is about 2.6 square kilometres and 9 to 12 metres deep in some areas. Search crews say it's not very safe to continue the search as the quick-sand and muddy terrain is a concern. Many family members wont give up though, many want to find closure after such an awful tragedy!

The Malaysia airlines flight mh370 went missing somewhere in the South Indian Ocean on March 8 has yet to be found. The malaysian government has declared that the passengers on the plane are dead, which has caused some Chinese families to lash out in anger as they try to hold onto hope. The governments still don't know whether this is an act of terrorism or not.

This article discusses the news conference between Angela Merkel, the chancellor of Germany, and Stephen Harper, the Prime Minister of Canada. The main topic for their discussion is the situation occurring between Russia and the Ukraine. Stephen Harper believes that even by their best efforts Vladimir Putin would rather be an rival than a friend. He describes him as a lone wolf in his own country. They conclude that no military efforts would be put in place in Ukraine. Demands have been put in place for Russia to tone down its presence in Ukraine or it will face more economic sanctions. One major sanction to come will be the loss of the energy industry industry industry. Although brining down Russia's economy it could also greatly impact European countries such as Germany that rely on Russian oil and gas. If this happens Harper has already discussed exporting to these European countries. Overall the talks really set the basis for further sanctions and is timeline for things to come.

on march 8th a Malaysian plane went off radar and has been missing ever since. There were two people on the plane that had fake passports and may have highjacked the plane. If the plane was crashed into the ocean no parts would be visible for at least 3 years. The plane kept flying for two hours before communication was lost then it went of the radar.

A father in the Kamloops area wants the school district to ban Perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It is a coming-of-age book about a teenager who is trying to fit in but he feels like the stuff that happens in it is inappropriate for teenagers. It is one of the New York Times best-seller, but despite its popularity some parents in the U.S. are attempting to ban it also. When I read this book it became one of my favourite book and have read it twice. I mean yes there is those part in the book. But I don't think it right to just ban it from schools. Your kid can choose to read it or not, and one person should not decide if everybody can read it or not. I mean just excuse your child from the book but don't let the rest of teenagers miss out on a really good book.

On march 8th the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 went missing with two hundred and nintey three people were on that plane. A French sattellite picked up signs of the plane and debris field of 122 objects. Nobody knows were it is or what happened to it. I think it was a inside job because two peoples passports were missing and they didn`t get on the plane so I think it was set up perfectly and they had a plan that we don`t know yet.

on March the flight MH370 that vanished over Indian ocean has not been found yet but there has been debris found. No one is sure if the debris are from the plain or other unknown sources. The debris were spotted by a french satellite. There was one hundred and twenty two objects were found. There are still no bodies found so people are unsure if there are survivors. whether or not this was a act of terrorsim or a act of god or just a accident the only thing thats known for sure is that its a mystery.

An aircraft has been reported missing from Malaysia Airlines. A french sattelite has supposedly found debris 2,500 miles away from Perth. They have found over 120 items one of them being a rope. The estimated search zone is 1.6 million square kilometers big. In my opinion there is no possible way to lose an aircraft filled with some of the worlds newest technology and poeple without finding it. How can they alow these planes to fly without having gps and trackers within them. I believe they are hiding something from us.

I agree, I think they've missed out on some important information, and this is leaving everyone clueless.

In this current event about how hockey offered aborigionals that attended residential schools is both heartbreaking and inspiring. The native children that attended these residential schools were abused, both physically and sexually, their memories of those days can't be earased. Hockey was an excape for them, the sport gave those young men a different thing to focus on, something to look foward to, and if you did make the residantial school hockey team, which was only applicable to boys, your opportunities widened. The boys went on feild trips to go play against other schools of different nationalities and such, they were treated better, taken care of and fed better food. The boys that made good decisions and were good enough hockey players went on to university and made a life for themselves after they were done with residential schools. Some even went on to NHL training camps and make it to the NHL. The hardships these men went through are very tragic, but the abilities that they had to push through them to pursue what they loved is truly encouraging. "I owe my survival to hockey." Says Willie Littlechild, a former student of Ermineskin Indian Residential School.

They search for the Malaysian aircraft that went missing on March 8 has continued and they have now found what the call their most credible lead. Unfortunately, this lead is just a debris site with 122 objects. It seems that they've have not had any leads that give them much information. But to me, it seems strange that a 747 aircraft can just go missing off the radar. I feel that the government does indeed know the location of this plane but they're are keeping it secret from us. But why? What about this plane is so important. If this is in fact the case, I feel quite bad for the families of the 239 passengers. Because without any notification, their family members have vanished.

I read the article on the banning of " The Perks of Being a Wallflower". It talks about a man named Dean Audet, and how he thinks this book is too vulgar and "unsuitable for teens". He says many more negative comments towards the book. His son was given a different book to read in school because he did not want his son reading it. This man has brought this one book up to attention and it is in the process of being banned in BC. Parents in the USA are also trying to get the book banned there as well. To me, I think that this is really stupid if anything. Like Allie said earlier "50 shades of Grey" has not been banned and it is probably even more vulgar than this book.... I believe that this man should get over ONE book! If I knew this guy I would ask him politely to go to a high school for one or two days to watch and listen to every thing that we teenagers do and say. I think he would be very surprised since he thinks that this book is bad. Anyway I don't think that this book should be banned or any other book for that matter. Also if he thinks this book is bad then fine don't let your son read it and don't make the rest of the world listen to your problems you have with this book!

On March 8, 2014, Malaysian flight 370 went missing somewhere over the Indian Ocean and the detailed search for it still continues today. Recently pieces of the plane were believed to be found floating near Australia. Although there are many theories about this missing plane, I believe that it has most definitely crashed due to some mechanical failure.
